~~ The Biggest Mountain ~~

Lord, You've given me a mountain so steep and, oh, so wide.
I don't think that I can climb it, without You by my side.
But, I know You'll climb it with me and You'll catch me if I fall,
Because that heavy cross, You bore or me, was a mountain, after all.

Lord, I'll try to remember that my burdens are few,
Compared to the suffering that old cross put You through.
But, You never complained You stayed strong for my cause,
Even though the load You carried was a mountain, after all.

So, Lord, when I feel I've had all I can take,
Just show me that mountain You climbed for my sake.
And, remind me that the burdens I must carry are small
Compared to Your Cross, Lord; The Biggest Mountain of All.

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time
Are not worthy to be compared with the glory,
Which shall be revealed in us.

~~ Job's Test ~~

Job was righteous in the eyes of the Lord, He served the Master of his own accord.
Then, one day, Satan said, with a grin, "I'll get Job to curse You and cause him to sin."
So, God allowed Satan to inflict Job with pain, By destroying his family and material gain.
Even though Job's wealth and his family had died, His Faith in The Lord would, still, not subside.

Then, Satan struck Job with leprosy, Causing sores from his feet to his head.
But, the Lord, in all His mercy, Told Satan not to leave Job for dead.
Job's wife said, "Forget your integrity Just curse the Lord and die."
But, Job said, "My witness is in heaven And my record is, still, on high."

After all of Satan's afflictions, That cut just like his sword,
Job said, "The Lord giveth and He taketh away, Blessed be the name of The Lord."
Then, finally, Satan realized that he couldn't get Job to sin,
By breaking down his body And God's spirit, deep within.

So, the Lord gave Job his just reward And all Job had God hath restored.
He took away Job's grief and pain By restoring Job's family and his material gain.
And, all that Satan could hear Job say was, "The Lord giveth and He taketh away.
Blessed be name, of The Lord."

~~ Moses In The Desert ~~

Moses was born an Israelite, then a decree was sent out as a plan
By the Egyptian king named Pharaoh, to smite every male child in the land.
So, Moses' mother was frantic to save her newborn child.
She weaved a basket and sealed it with pitch, and took Moses down to the Nile.

Then, along came Pharaoh's daughter; A Princess to the Egyptian throne.
She had Moses pulled from the river and she decided to take him home.
Though Moses grew up an Egyptian, He was a Hebrew by heart all the while.
He watched as his people were beaten as slaves, and some died beside this river, called Nile.

Then, one day God called Moses to lead his people home,
Back to the land of Canaan; where his father's before him had gone.
God had to send ten plagues upon Egypt, with His almighty hand,
Before Moses could free his people and lead them to their promised land.

Then, Moses set out for the desert, with his brother Aaron along,
While God supplied their every need, still they had to be strong.
So, Moses climbed up to Mt. Sinai, to talk face to face with the Lord.
He stayed on the mountain for forty days, while his people grew restless and bored.

Then, the Lord gave Moses two tablets of stone, with ten laws for the Hebrews to see.
Moses headed back to the Israelite camp, as God's laws he was anxious to read.
The people begged Aaron to build them a god, one they could touch of their own.
So, he took their gold jewelry, shaped it into a calf; as the Egyptians has done for so long.

When Moses came down from Mt. Sinai and saw what his people had done,
He grew so fierce, and angry that he destroyed God's laws, one by one.
Then, Moses begged His forgiveness, for this calf was an ungodly sin.
So then, God sent him back to the mountain to receive His Commandments again.

These were the ten commandments that God gave to Moses:

1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me;
2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.
3. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain;
4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy;
5. Honor thy father and thy mother;
6. Thou shalt not kill;
7. Thou shalt not commit adultery;
8. Thou shalt not steal;
9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor;
10.Thou shalt not covet.

~~ From Saul to Paul ~ Saul's Conversion ~~

Saul was a Pharisee who hated Jesus, he despised His followers, too.
So, he plotted and planned, every chance that he had,
To destroy the disciples he knew.
While on the road to Damascus, where Saul learned his disciples had fled,
Saul saw a great light and heard Jesus' voice, he could have sworn that Jesus was dead.

As Jesus was speaking with Saul, Saul realized that he had been wrong
And that Jesus was the "Son Of God"; reigning beside God, on His throne.
So, Saul begged Jesus' forgiveness for disbelieving that He was God's Son.
And, he asked Jesus how he could make up for all the wicked things he had done.

Now, Saul had been blinded by God's Holy light, so God forgave Saul and restored his eyesight.
Then, He told Saul what he wanted him to do; to carry His gospel to the Gentiles and Jews.
Then, God changed his name from Saul to Paul, who spread God's word from Rome's prison wall.
Paul was arrested, but still undeterred, he wrote his letters to the churches,
Still spreading God's word.

If my people which are called by my name,
Shall humble themselves and pray, and seek
My face, and turn from their wicked ways,
Then, I will hear from Heaven, and will
Forgive their sins, and will heal their land.
II Chronicles 7:14

~~Daniel ~~

Daniel was a righteous man he found favor in God's eyes.
But, he was thrown into the lions den, by King Darius and his spies.
King Darius and his mighty men; A new law, had they decreed ...
A plan to worship only him but, Daniel disagreed.

Now, Daniel got down on his knees at least, three times a day.
And to his Living God, above, he would always kneel and pray.
King Darius became angry and told Daniel he had sinned,
By ignoring his new decree....to fall down and worship him.

So, the King consulted with his princes, and followers within,
To lead Daniel from the palace and into the lion's den.
Then, the King said to Daniel, "The God you serve, He will deliver you."
But, Daniel didn't say a word, until his ordeal was through.

Now, God's angels came into the night to shut the lions mouth.
And when the King arrived at dawn, he knew there was no doubt ...
That Daniel's God was 'The Living God'; so man should tremble and fear.
For, He delivered Daniel from the lions mouth; without harm, He did appear.

Now, King Darius made a new decree for his people, throughout the land,
To worship Daniel's 'Living God' and to follow Daniel's plan.

~~ Elijah The Prophet ~~

Elijah was a Hebrew prophet, one of God's chosen few;
Whom He had sent to Tyre and told him what to do.
He said, "Elijah, go to Tyre, the city ruled by Ahab, and Jezebel,
And testify to the people there, against their god, called 'Baal."

So, Elijah rose up in anger toward the rulers of Tyre.
He said, "God has sent this scorching drought because of your disbelief."
Then, Elijah proposed a contest, between himself and the priest's of Baal,
To sacrifice a bull ... drenched in water from their desert well.

So, the priest's prayed to their nature god, of whom they were so fond,
To consume this bull with fire, but, Baal did not respond.
Then, Elijah told the people there to soak this bull real well
And watch God's fire consume it, then denounce their god, named Baal.

So, the people watched in wonder, when Elijah said, with a nod,
"Behold the bull has been consumed, and by the fire of my 'Living God'!"

~~ John the Baptist ~~

John was a prophet (sent from heaven above)
To preach of God's Kingdom, repentance, and love.
John never preached for his glory or money;
And he lived in the wilderness, on dried locusts, and honey.

He fashioned his robe from an old camel's hair,
Strapped on with a leather belt.
Then, he would roam the country by the Jordan River,
And pray to God about spiritual things he had felt.

Then, God told John to preach by the river.
So, John proclaimed, day and night.
He spoke of the love and forgiveness of the coming Savior
And how following God's ways had proved right.

John baptized many people who were saved in the waters.
In the depths of the Jordan River,
He said, "A King is coming soon, who is mightier than Me.
And their lost souls, He will deliver."

Then, Jesus came down to the river;
Searching for His Baptist, too.
Then, John said, "Instead of You coming to me,
I should be baptized by You."

Then, Jesus emerged from The Jordan River,
Encircled by a dove.
The heavens opened. The angels sang.
And, God sent down His love.

When Jesus looked up toward the heavens,
After kneeling on bended knees,
God smiled down upon Him,
And said, "In You, I Am, well pleased."

~~ Jonah and the Whale ~~

Now here's a Bible story, that we all know well.
It's all about Jonah, in the belly of a whale.
God told Jonah to go to Nineveh, to preach against their wicked ways.
But, Jonah did not want to go and so, he disobeyed.

Then, Jonah rose up early to catch a ship going out to sea,
To the city of Tarshish He was preparing to flee
He was running from the Lord's command and words that He had spoken.
So the Lord sent His tempest winds and Jonah's ship was Nearly broken.

But, Jonah had gone down to the side of the ship and there was fast asleep.
Then the shipmaster said, "Pray to the Lord, our lives to safely keep."
So, Jonah told the captain to cast him out to sea.
For, it was his disobedience to the Lord that caused their awful plea.

Then, the shipmaster and crew threw Jonah overboard,
And yelled at him as he went down, "You're at the mercy of your Lord."
But, the Lord had sent a giant whale to swallow Jonah whole.
So for three days and nights, the Lord waxed havoc on His soul.

Then, Jonah begged forgiveness, for disobeying God's command,
While the Lord spoke to the whale to spit him out upon dry land.
Thus, Jonah, being thankful and giving God his praise,
Traveled on to Nineveh ...to proclaim their wicked ways.

~~ Joshua at Jericho - The Battle ~~

Joshua was a righteous soul, A brave leader of the Israelites.
While waiting on the Lord's command, He kept Jericho in his sights.
Now, God had sent an angel, Dressed in armored clad,
To destroy the city of Jericho And give to Joshua God's plan.

Joshua thought God's plan was strange He'd never heard of such a thing!
So, how could trumpets blowing, with seven priests in all,
Cause a giant city such as Jericho to fall?

But, Joshua knew the Lord was the wisest one of all ...
And by following His plan, that Jericho would fall.
So a special group of warriors marched once around the wall
And seven priests, with rams horns, to blow the bugle call.

For six days and nights, the warriors and the priests
Marched around the city blowing once, and then they ceased.
Then on the seventh day, the priest blew seven times aloud.
Then, the giant walls of Jericho fell and you could hear the screaming crowd.

Then, throughout the land of Canaan, Joshua's name was surely dread.
For everyone knew, God was Commander and Chief Of the army he had led.
