F.R.O.G.

I was told a story about a lady in the hospital who was near death when an
area Chaplin came to visit her.  This Chaplin was a very young female with
long blond hair.  She listened to the lady who was ill and left her a small gift
for comfort.  It was a tiny ceramic frog.  The next day one of the people from
the ladies church came to visit.  The lady told her friend about the
beautiful young chaplain who had come to visit her.

The friend was so impressed with the way the lady had improved and felt
the need to talk to the young Chaplin.  In her search to find the young lady,
she was repeatedly reassured that the chaplains are never very
young and that there was never a young lady that fit the description given
Upon returning to the lady in the hospital, a visiting nurse entered the
room and noticed the ceramic frog.  The nurse made the comment
"I see you have a guardian angel with you."  as she held the little frog.
We asked why she made the comment and we were informed that
the frog stood for:

F= Fully
R= Rely
O = On
G= God

To The World You Might Be One Person;
but To One Person You Might Be The World.

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The
animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried
to figure out what to do.
Finally he decided the animal was old and the well
needed to be covered up anyway, it just wasn't worth
it to retrieve the donkey. So he invited all his neighbours
to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel
and began to shovel dirt into the well.
At first, the donkey realized what was happening and
cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement, he quieted down. A few
shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the
well and was astonished at what he saw.
With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something
amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbours
continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off
and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the
donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off!
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, my friend, all kinds
of dirt. The trick is to shake it off and take a step up.
Each trouble is a stepping stone. So don't stop! Never
give up! Shake it off and take a step up!

The man whispered, "God, speak to me" and a meadowlark sang.
But, the man did not hear.
So the man yelled "God, speak to me"   And, the thunder
rolled across the sky. But, the man did not listen.
The man looked around and said, "God let me see you."
And a star shined brightly. But the man did not notice.
And, the man shouted,  "God show me a miracle."
And, a life was born. But, the man did not know.
So, the man cried out in despair,
"Touch me God and let me know you are here."
Whereupon,  God reached down and touched the man.
But,  the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on.

This isn't like other quizzes ... don't bother getting a pen and paper ... just read.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of the FA Cup.
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for Best Actor and Actress.
6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series Winner.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remembers the headliners of yesterday.
These are no second-rate achievers. They're the best in their fields.
But the applause dies.  Awards tarnish. Achievements
are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Now here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.
6. Name a half dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you.

Easier?

The lesson?

The people who make a difference in your life aren't the ones
with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards.
They're the ones who care.

Christ's Caring Love
Trust in me, my loving child.
I'll help you through your pain today.
I'll give you a life of joy and comfort.
For, I know you love Me in the same sweet way.
I'll help you through these trying times.
The pain you endure, I'll help you bear.
Put your hand in Mine, dear child.
For I know that, for Me, you really care.
There are many more years, for you to love Me,
On the earth My Father created.
He sent Me to earth to be a Friend
Of all, like you, who are to Me so dedicated.
I'll care for you and bear with you
The pain you are enduring.
So trust in Me, My loving child.
For I know that life in Me
Is what you are pursuing.

The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with,
never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was
the best conversation you've ever had.

When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so
long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been opened for us.

Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people
 before meeting the right one,
so that when we finally meet the right person,
we will know how to be grateful
for that gift.

We cannot discover new oceans until we have the courage to lose sight of the shore...

February 2001

You may be going through some struggles and life may be hard
on you right now, but remember what Psalm 30:5 says, "-weeping may endure for a
night, but joy cometh in the morning". Be assured that God is with you and
will strengthen you to overcome every obstacle that may be in your path, so
be quick to show yourself strong in Him and know that victory comes to all
those who endure to the end. (Psalm 23:4) (Ephesians 6:10)
I know of many people who are quick to talk about others in truth or lies,
so when I came across this story, I thought it would be fitting to share
with you the hurt and damage that gossip causes; and once spread how it
cannot be completely undone. I hope this message speaks to your heart to
be sensitive to those around you and remember to judge not, unless you
yourself be judged. (Matthew 7:1)
