A Way Of Life

A way of life it seems to me,
you must expect a burglary.
No matter what you do
with iron grills and locks galore,
Security alarms and much, much more.
I guess there is joy in seeking entry,
ransacking your home, to find the loot
their hearts are bent on.
With no reward they slink away as they think,
Oh well, I'll try another day.

I May Never See Tomorrow

I may never see tomorrow, there's no written guarantee
And things that happened yesterday belong to history.
I cannot predict the future, I cannot change the past
I have just the present moments, I must treat it as my last.

I must use this moment wisely for it soon will pass away,
And be lost forever, as part of yesterday.
I must exercise compassion, help the fallen to their feet
Be a friend unto the friendless, make an empty life complete.

The unkind things I do today may never be undone,
And friendships that I fail to win my nevermore be won.
I may not have another chance on bended knees to pray,
And I thank God with a humble heart for giving me this day.

Finding Faith In A Flower

Sometimes when faith is running low,
And I cannot fathom why things are so,
I walk alone among the flowers I grow
And learn the "answers" to
All I would know.

For among the flowers I have come to see,
Life's miracle and it's mystery.
And standing in silence and reverie,
My faith comes flooding back to me.

Every Day

Every day I need you Lord, but this day especially
I need some extra strength to face whatever is to be.
This day more than any day I need to feel you near
To fortify my courage and to overcome my fear.

By myself, I cannot meet the challenge of the hour.
There are times when humans help, but we need a higher power
To assist us bear what must be borne,
And so Dear Lord, I pray

Don't Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
when the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
and you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
rest, if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with it's twists and turns,
as every one of us sometimes learns.
And many a failure turns about,
when he might have won had he stuck it out.

Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
you may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
the silver tint of the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are,
it may be near when it seems so far.
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
it's when things seem worst,

Not by the Years we Live

Not by the Years we Live, But how much we Give
From one day to another, God will gladly give
To everyone who seeks Him, and tries each day to live
