A Prayer From Heaven

I look down on you from heaven, wishing I could be alive again
I miss you ever so much, death hasn't quite been the same without you.
I watch you mourn, I watch you grieve
It's been three years since that sad, sad night.
Why do you still cry for me, I want you to be happy.
I wish I could tell you I am okay, and everything is going to be alright.

But all you can do is cry, you never go out,
You never see your friends and you hardly ever talk.
I know you loved me, I love you too, Please be happy.
I know you have been thinking it, but it is not the way
If you do, we can never see each other again.

Suicide is not the answer.

I believe in you, I believe you will do the right thing,
So we can be together again in heaven and be happy for eternity.
Please put the gun away, my love, I need you.

'A Love That Will Not Die', again from a personal life experience

A Love That Will Not Die

Once you told me that everything happens for a reason,
If that is so, then what is the reason for your illness.
Why are you dying in a hospital bed,
What did you do to deserve such a fate?

I love you so much, I stay by your side morning and night.
I watch you suffer in agony, I watch them feed you liquid
with a tube down your throat.
I see you try to move, but you are so weak.

I help you to roll on your side, it is an enormous task for you.
I watch them give you so many needles, so many tablets and medicines.
I look into your eyes and feel you screaming.
Why did this happen to you?

You are the sweetest person I have ever known,
You never hurt me or anyone, you are smart and funny,
And a happy person.
You made me smile when I was sad, you made me happy again
when I was angry, You loved me when I was so lonely,
I can't live without you - Why do you have to die?

You're not even strong enough to talk, all you can do is look
into my eyes with such pain, yet so much love.
I try not to cry, because I don't want you to feel my pain too.
I know you would because you are so caring for me,
Our time is so limited, I will never hear you say you love me again,
It is just too hard to try, I can only tell you over and over again

Just how much I love you, and assure you that I know you love me too.
I see tears in your eyes every time I say I love you,
I'm going to miss you so much.
I hold your hand and look into your eyes, as we continue to wait
For the fate that cannot be avoided.

Indian Prayer

Oh Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the winds,
Whose breath gives life to the world - hear me,
I come to you as one of your many children,
I am small and weak.
I need your strength and your wisdom,
May I walk in beauty.

May my eyes behold the Red and Purple sunset,
My hand respect the things you have made,
And my ears ever sharp to your voice.
Make me wise so that I may know the things
you have taught your children,
The lessons you have written on every leaf and rock.

Make me strong.
Not to be superior to my brother, but to fight
my greatest enemy myself.
Make me ever ready to come to you with straight eyes,
So that when life fades as the fading sunset,
My spirit will come to you without shame.

The above prayer was translated into English by Chief Yellow Lark
of the Sioux Tribe 1887.

The Beatitudes of the Old

Blessed are they who understand my faltering step and shaking hand,
Blessed are they who know my ears today must strain to catch the things they say.
Blessed are they who seem to know my eyes are dim, and my wits are slow.
Blessed are they who looked away when tea was spilled on the cloth today.
Blessed are they with a cheery smile who stopped to chat for a little while.
Blessed are they who never say "You've told that story twice today."
Blessed are they who make it known that I'm loved, respected and not alone.
And especially blessed are they who ease the days of my journey home in loving ways.

One Day

One day at a time is all you may plan,
No one can tell the length of life's span.
Never fuss about trifles, it's not worth the heat.
Make the most of each hour, till the day is complete.

It's a wonderful world, look around and you will see.
Live each moment in joy, with a heart light and free.
Past moments are dead and tomorrow unborn.
Every soul has rebirth, with the first flush of dawn.

She’s Going Home

Her aging hands are folded As she sits there in her chair
Another day spent all alone And no one seems to care.
The years pass by so slowly Her heart is filled with pain
Oh what she’d give to go back home And see them once again.

Her name has been forgotten The months have turned to years
Inside she’s died a hundred times And cried a million tears.
Someone is there to see to her She quietly waits inside
His smile is so inviting Her arms are open wide.

She wanted so to see him And called to him each night
The emptiness has disappeared For now he holds her tight.
The nursing home is silent No ailing voices call
No med carts, pills, or nurses No wheelchairs in the hall.

Her aging hands are folded The grace of God she’s known
With eyes now closed in restful sleep He comes to take her home.

My Love Is Yours

Your kindness, love, touches my soul
Glowing warmth, there, to hold
Green eyes sparkle, like a star lit night
Saying they love me, it will be alright
You hold me in your arms, give a gentle kiss
I am in paradise, such heavenly bliss
That look in your eyes, tender lips I touch
My heart aching, I love you so much

Loving you eternally, always there for you
To love you forevermore, love each day is new
Kissing your delicate lips, in flickering candlelight
Our hearts come together, loving through the night
A beacon, radiant fire, glow upon your face
Skin soft as velvet, wanting to embrace
Loving eyes tell me, words could never say
Love so strong forever, fills the air each day

Love and emotion, hear it all around
The song of love, a beautiful sound
With me everlasting, always on my mind
With no other lover, such happiness could I find
Love I'll keep forever, until the day we part
Locked in a special place, deep within my heart
You're the one I love, the best thing in my life
The one I love so dearly, you my darling wife
